Barbara thinks she may be pregnant.  She will learn today that she is at a local pregnancy care center. She and her boyfriend were not expecting this.  Unfortunately, she feels this miracle is a crisis, one she faces alone.
Many women like Barbara feel like they have a life or death decision to make. Thankfully, pregnancy care centers are helping women like Barbara make ‘living’ decisions.

She is the one that is pregnant but she is not the only one who’s going to have a child.   Where is this child’s father during this critical time? At no other time will the life of this child be more vulnerable.  Sadly, he is often not very involved. Sadder still, we have come to expect nothing different.

The Birth of a Family Program© exists to capture these opportunities that occur every time a new client like Barbara visits a pregnancy care center and convert them into a lasting nuclear households where fathers, mothers and their children all reside together. (more)

The Need
Today in America….

  • Single parents head a third of family households with children under 18.
  • Half of American will live in a single parent household at some point in their childhood
  • Since the 1980’s the number of children born to unmarried women per year has quadrupled
  • During that same time the number of single mothers has increased more than 300%
  • Daily in America, 1,186 babies are born to teen mothers.
  • Daily in America, 3,742 babies are born to unmarried mothers.

    …a true story…Heather writes,
“I have an 11 month-old beautiful daughter who has never seen or had any contact with her ‘father’. He and I only had a short relationship, about 2 months, and then he went AWOL. He made one attempt to contact me about 2 months after she was born and his comments ranged from, ‘I want to see the baby’, to ‘I don't know why you're mad’, and ‘What was I supposed to do, come hold your hand?’
Needless to say I didn't make the wisest decisions concerning the choice of a partner. I feel extremely guilty at times that my daughter will grow up without a dad. I know that she is being raised in a loving, caring environment; myself, my parents, relatives, but I feel that I have destined her to live a life of misery or disappointment.”
Three quarters of those Americans surveyed chose ‘fatherlessness’ as the most significant social issue facing America today.

  • Seventy-five percent of teenage pregnancies are from single parent homes.
  • More than half of all youths incarcerated for criminal acts lived in one-parent families when they were children.
  • Sixty-three percent of suicides are individuals from single parent families.

    The Opportunity
The need is obvious. Fathers, mothers and their children need to live together as nuclear families in one home.

Realize this; an opportunity occurs every time an expectant mother visits a pregnancy care center to affect these devastating trends. None of those pregnancies occur immaculately. If she is pregnant there is a father making each one of these clients representative of a unique family.  Unfortunately, families including mothers, fathers and children living and growing together will rarely be the result unless…

    The Objective
The Birth of a Family Program exists to capture these opportunities converting them into lasting nuclear families where fathers, mothers, and children do live and grow together. Through this remarkable program, clients are introduced to the hope that a lasting nuclear family can be achieved.  More importantly, they receive the help they’ve always needed but rarely received.

    Measuring Success
Clients participating in the program who welcome their children into nuclear families consisting of fathers, mothers and their children are indicators of success.

    Program Description
The Birth of a Family Program is a seven session course that the expectant clients of pregnancy care centers (mother and fathers) attend along with trained Family Coaches who provide needed mentoring and role modeling to their clients. The curriculum is designed around a proven matrix that has been used successfully for more than a decade to promote the founding and strong growth of hundreds of Biblical households.

The Birth of a Family Program is offered to pregnancy care centers along with the help they need to initiate, develop and achieve sustainable results.

    Conclusion
The Birth of a Family Program captures and converts presently unrealized opportunities to promote the founding and strong growth of Biblical households within a segment of our population that desperately needs it.
